Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Harry Potter is now thirty-seven. He’s a husband, a father of three children and head of Magical Law Enforcement for the Ministry of Magic. He’s stressed and distracted by a sense of unease. His scar is hurting and something is not right. Meanwhile his son, Albus Severus Potter, is having his own struggles. He feels the weight of his father’s legacy and this is causing problems between them. What’s more, Albus is friends with Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Harry’s rival, Draco Malfoy and this too is a source of tension. Then Albus and Scorpius steal the Time-Turner and things get very complicated …

I was really pleasantly surprised with this play. It read so easily from the page that I whizzed through it in no time. Despite having only read the first Harry Potter novel, I could still understand the plot, while appreciating that there were references to previous books that were flying over my head. It is definitely a more grown-up version, but still had the flavour of Potter. Read it. You’ll see what I mean!
