Why: When it’s cold and dark we all need a bit of magical and sparkle to light up the dreary evenings. The annual Magical Lantern Festival in Chiswick, London, is just the antidote. It’s a celebration of the Chinese New Year featuring outdoor installations of beautiful lanterns to capture your imagination. This year the theme is ‘The Silk Road’. Visitors can marvel at a host of lanterns based on well known British buildings as well as scenes from India, China and the Middle East.
